Welcome
At the NDSU Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering, we provide research and development with world-class facilities, equipment and staff with broad-based expertise.
Located at North Dakota State University, Fargo, in the NDSU Research & Technology Park, CNSE has grown from five to more than 70 scientists, engineers and support staff since its founding in 2002. More than 80 NDSU students and faculty work with these professionals on research with federal and state agencies, companies, universities and government laboratories. We currently expend about $18 million annually on our research and development programs.
CNSE’s Research 2 facility includes 77,000 sf of clean room, laboratory and engineering spaces. It also houses three Centers of Excellence: Microsensors and Electronics Miniaturization; Advanced Electronics Design and Manufacturing; and Surface Protection with Hard Coatings. NDSU’s polymer materials research programs benefit from our Combinatorial Materials Research Laboratory, which includes one of the most comprehensive suites of robotic tools in the world and many collaborations with the Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials.
