- NDSU establishes new Division of Equity, Diversity and Global Outreach.
- NDSU is getting a $3.7 million grant from the National Science Foundation over five years. The grant aims to improve NDSUs ability to recruit, retain and mentor female faculty in science areas. NDSU has pledged to match some of the funding.
- The Office of International Programs is looking for volunteer families or
individuals for the International Friendship Family Program Fall 2008. The
Friendship Family Program (FFP) is a program that seeks to promote
international understanding by bringing together Fargo-Moorhead area
community members and international students who attend NDSU. For information on getting involved, please send an email to

Diversity Conferences & Events
- "Stage Left," is an event of drama, music, and discussion dealing with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues. This presentation will include drama, music, poetry, and personal stories. This event will take place Saturday, October 11 at 7pm in the Memorial Union Great Room. This event is free and open to the public.
- October 10-11, NDSU Memorial Union Connecting Campus and Communities Annual Conference, sponsored by the ND Human Rights Coalition. Featured keynote speakers include James Loewen, author of Lies My Teacher Told Me. A second keynote speaker is Jessica Pettitt, national speaker on the topic of sexual orientation and gender identity. NDSU's Safe Zone Ally Program is a campus sponsor for this conference. Cultural Awareness Month is a time to celebrate and learn about various ways of living and being.
